Oct22 our weekend. 2013

./artist. do you ever hope your kids will appreciate the same things as you, but you don’t want to force it on them?  i do.  although i am relieved to see that my girls enjoy artistic kind of things, i have to admit i’m pretty sure i stuffed crayons in their chubby hands when they were mere 6-month-olds.  should i be surprised?

./crayons. i’m a sucker for unique, kids’ products.  the philbrook museum is filled with them.  i want to do my christmas shopping there.  seriously.  {that’s my educational-loving mom coming out in me.}  but where else can you find crayons like that?  hmmm?

./”cahdoe-cadas”. the kids call avocados that.  we love them over here.  i say that, and keller will not eat them tomorrow.  are your kids like that?  or is it just boys?  i can usually talk the girls into eating anything, but that boy?  he would rather starve, than eat something deemed healthy.  pretty sure steven’s been holding secret meetings with him.

./health nut. i go through phases.  it’s a lot of work, to eat healthy.  it’s a lot easier to eat frozen and already ready, especially with our lifestyle and having to leave on short notice because of a house showing.  but i am attempting to make it work.  it’s important to me, and i want it to be important to my kids too.  steven is devastated, but i assured him we could go get his bubba burgers and i would cook “special” for him….within reason.

./pottery barn. oh, i miss you pottery barn outlet from home!  it’s always a good day when a magazine comes in the mail.  the best of days.

./friends. i’ve gotten some good, girl time in this weekend.  i love my friends.  just love them.  and over starbucks outside on an artsy street, for that matter.  thank you, for the heart-to-hearts, emily and elizabeth!

./neighborhood. we are in the quaintest neighborhood now and with the weather being so great in the evenings {still in the 80′s here during the day} i told the kids i would take them on an exploratory walk.  yeah.  our walks usually last about 20 minutes and there’s not a whole lot of exploring, but we’re getting it.  someday we’ll all be riding big girl bikes together and i’ll miss the days they fought over tricycles.

./bribery. is it bad to bribe your kids for kisses?  i’m not a briber by nature, but sometimes, just sometimes, i like to pull it out of my bag of tricks. :)

./countryside. open house again on sunday, so we took a drive….a long one.  we love the countryside here.  the cows.  the horses.  the fields.  in a not-so-similar-way it reminds me of where i grew up.  instead, we had corn fields and soy beans.  but i’ll take it oklahoma. :)  you are beautiful in your own way and i love you for it.
