Jan28 our weekend link up party! 2013
Happy Monday readers! If you’re new here, you must know the scoop. On Mondays, we’re inviting everybody to link up below with their weekend story. Nothing fancy schmancy over here, we just want a good kick in the pants to dig out our cameras and iphones and make us some memories on the weekends. It could be a single photo, a photo grid, a written story, you in your jammies watching netflix all weekend, you on a date, you at the park…all stories are worth remembering and we hope you’ll share!
1./ survival. i stayed up waaay too late on thursday night and got up waaay too early on friday morning and i knew, just knew, it was time to get real about how to survive my impending day with three schooners in tow. so i caved, people: i got me some starbucks. not for the taste. not for the glamour. but for the caffeine. and you know what? after running errands all morning and getting locked out of our house with a car full of melting groceries, i don’t think it helped one bit. so i think i’ll stick with splurging for taste purposes only in the future. i’m one of those, go-all-out-on-calories when it comes to my coffee. no skinny this or skinny that. if i’m going to pay $4.36 for a cup of coffee, i want it to taste pretty darn good. whose with me?!
2./ winter. if winter will not come to us, i will bring winter to myself. i’ll give it to tulsa in that it gets pretty cold at night and in the mornings, so i wore that fluffy hat with pride to wal-mart and target on saturday morning. shiloh loves anything hat related and she thought i was one a.w.e.s.o.m.e. mum.
3./date morning. one of my favorite things as a mum is to make my kids feel special and take them on some one-on-one time. i usually make this my errand morning and i pick one to go with me {whoever’s awake!} and we go get groceries and pick out something special. shiloh got to have a whole bag of sweet potato chips {she’s a girl after my own heart} to herself and i dare say that made her feel pretty special not to have to worry about keller’s grabby hands!
4./ mall trip. i needed to pick up a couple things for our next giveaway here on the blog {yippee!} so we decided to make it a family affair and take a trip to the mall. shiloh models a pair of sunglasses for daddy and cheeses it UP.
5./ runner. i cringe just saying that word because i don’t really consider myself one. i write it out here simply as accountability for myself and in the hopes that maybe…just maybe…i’ll get my act together and run more than once or twice a week. i’m supposedly training for a half marathon. yeah. we’ll see how that goes…
6./dishes. “i have given up on you, dishwasher, and your unsightly film you leave on everything i put in there. i am resorting to hand washing from now on after trying all sorts of products that have not worked on you.” i’m taking the high road and assuming there is some unforeseen purpose to this, like if/when we eventually move overseas they won’t have dishwashers or something.
7./ music. i vowed to bring more organic music to our home in 2013. so i’ve been getting out my piano books and warming up our piano keys with classical music…i’m glad i vowed to do this. it’s good for my soul. it’s good for the kid’s souls. at least, i imagine that. :)
8./ baking. i have to satisfy the baking itch at least once a week and weekends are usually a good excuse to get messy with the flour and the kids and create something. i made these oat chocolate chunk cookies and they were gooood.
9./friendship. i got really surprised this week by two friends who randomly sent me each a necklace in the mail {thank you, emily & jenny!}. i know i tend to over-spiritualize sometimes, but i’m pretty sure God knew i needed that unexpected encouragement this week.
if you think of it, do something randomly kind for someone this week, expecting nothing in return. you’ll touch someone’s life, take it from me.

i love this! my mom was named after clair de lune <3 i've actually never heard the song played, though.
