Feb18 Our Weekend Link-Up Party. 2013

if you’re new to A & C, we want you to know we heart weekends over here.  we like to celebrate them.  we like to capture them.  we like to recap them.  i hope you’ll join in the fun with your weekendy photos below!

Annapolis-&-Company-_-Our-Weekend

1./ soup.  it is so good for the soul i’m convinced.  we had some unusually nippy weather {but no snow} and so i decided to make soup-for-one while 2 of the 3 schooners were napping.  i had some failing tomatoes in the fridge and i roasted those babies UP and used this tomato soup recipe.  easy and heartwarming and nothing makes you feel better than saving some tomatoes.

2./ reader. we can officially say we’re home schoolers over here.  it’s taken me a while to get the hang of it, but i think we’re getting this teacher/daughter thing down.  E.C. is a joy to teach.  pure joy.  we get in reading while keller is napping and penmanship while i’m cleaning in the kitchen.  we found the library that is close to our house and we are taking weekly, sometimes bi-weekly trips there for books and educational videos.  we learned a little about england last week and i’m thinking we should keep it up and add a different country every week…any resources you could send my way would be forever appreciated.  cuz by golly this is the first time we’ve ever done pre-k over here and we are quite the newbies!

3./ cut-outs.  do you ever think back on your childhood and remember little things that just meant the world to you?  i do that and then i try to make time to do them for the schooners.  most of the time it is just simple dimple things…but you need to do them.  that’s where i’m at.  trying to do things that’ll make life special and filled with happy memories…like wonky gingerbread peanut butter and honey sandwiches.

4./ babysitter fun.  i don’t know who does this, but mindy and matt asked to watch our schooners, so we could go out for valentine’s day.  i’m pretty sure i cried when i got her email asking if we had gone on a date yet for valentine’s day and said they were coming over if we hadn’t.  mindy, you are the sweetest and dearest person with the biggest heart.  thank you, friend!!!

5./ saturday morning.  we’ve officially dubbed saturday mornings as “movie mornings” around here.  the kids love it.  we parents love it.  everybody’s happy.  {oh, and yes.  that would be a cow costume on shiloh.  she lives her life in that.  her cow life.}

6./ bakers anonymous.  i’m still anonymously backing up sugar filled goodies and eating them on the weekends.  we made chocolate chip cookies and these raspberry muffins.  my skinnies are fitting a little tighter already.  no lie.  chocolate chip cookie secrets are coming your way this week if you want to suck in your stomach in order to pull your pants on too…stay tuned.

7./ play time.  i have been waaay too busy trying to get stuff done and i’ve been convicted about slowing down my personal pace so that i can just hang out with the schooners.  get down on their level and play their play and talk their conversations.  i’ve been looking for these opportunities between housework and grownup work and homeschooling and when steven took emma claire on a date, i knew it was perfect timing to have a in-home date with shiloh bug.  she made us an entire “bed” from pillows off of the couch, down comforters and sheets from the linen closet and we were to have a “singing party”.  gosh, i love that bug.  “me and my teddy, gettin’ all ready, gettin’ all ready for school…”

8./turkey mountain.  i had to work on our really nice, 68-degree-day here this weekend.  but steven loaded the schooners up and took them to turkey mountain for me.  he said their little adventure-loving-selves were in total wonder and amazement that there were actual woods and hills and sticks…life is so simple for them and i love that.

9./surprise!  our ethos groupies surprised mindy at zio’s for a birthday dinner night.  we were sans kids again and steven says he feels like we’re dating.  dating is way more fun when you’re already married.  just saying.  we had a good night with good friends and equally good food {eggplant parmigiana, anyone?!}.  thank you, thank you, bermans, for helping us with our kids and giving us a chance to be able to go out with you all!  and happiest of birthdays to you, mindy!

so how was your weekend???  you wanna link up with your photos too?!  perfect.  i would love to have you.  here’s the skinny…

:: link up to anything weekend related.  a photo. a diagrammed map of the places you went.  a recap. a photo grid…the weekend sky is the limit!

:: don’t forget to link to your actual blog post, not just your main page. for example. http://annapolisandcompany.com/2013/01/its-the-weekend-are-you-ready-to-partay/

:: grab a weekend button from the sidebar {see the code box!}, or just link back to annapolis & company so others know they can join in the fun.

:: try to visit at least one other person’s weekend and spread some comment lovin’.

What a wonderful weekend! I agree, dating is waaaaay more fun after you’re married- even after 13 years! SO awesome that you have friends who would give you a Valentine’s date!
(I’m sorry I’m absent from this link-up:( I’m, um, busy. I know, that excuse gets waaaaay overused. I do plan to show back up eventually though:)

I know, right! And no worries about not linking up…it is for fun and sometimes we fit it in and sometimes we don’t. No big deal. Just so thankful you read our space here.

I got a major chuckle out of Shiloh and her cow life. Hys.ter.i.cal! But the photo and story of her spending time with you is heart melting. Lovely. Praising God for His grace toward you in parenting and praying for a dose of it over here.

Awww…thank you, friend. She is one character of a little girl that’s for sure. God has used her to change and grow my perspective. To stretch my patience and see how selfish I can be sometimes. And to extend my love and grace. Cherries on top of parenting. :)

Still trying to perfect getting linked up here. Hopefully it worked! Love reading about your weekends. :) When I looked on my weekend post on my blog, I thought I posted a link back to your blog, but it doesnt look like it did. So I’m trying to figure that out. Anyway! I’m working on it!
