Good morning, schooners!  Today is fashion day in more than one blogging world.  Whaaaat?  I know.  I just found that out a couple weeks ago myself.  So I’m getting outside of my comfort zone, giving up a little control, and purposing to be more creative with my closet.  Want to join me?  There’s a host of link up’s at the bottom of this post where you can join in the fun.

You will realize soon…stripes and more stripes are the name of this east coaster’s game.  Sometimes I’ll be out and about on the town {which means grocery and library runs with the kiddos} and look at them with realization anew.  Your mum dressed you in stripes…every single one of you.  Stripes.  Does it ever get old?  Absolutely not.  Although, this patterned tunic from Anthropologie is a close rival.

You all, I wish you could be there when the hubs and I go to “shoot” what-i-wore-wedensday.  It’s like marital reality show.  Every time.  If we would just get a darn full length mirror, these kinds of things would go better.  But anyways,  I step out of the car and I’m trying to go out on a limb and be all forward trending, you know?  I plaster some aviator sunglasses on, and throw my vintage Anthropologie hat atop my head.  I lug Steven’s puff vest from Banana, that could fit a 400lb man I swear, and put that over top of my dress for a layered, lumberjack look.  I don’t know what I was thinking.  Steven takes one look at me, and laughs.  Which instantly ruffles my feathers.

“What?!  Think outside the box, babe.  This. Is. Fashion.”  And I give him my broaden-your-perspective speech that I can do oh-so-well.

He’s like, “You should see your sunglasses.”

“How in the world can I “see” my sunglasses when I’m wearing them??? Huh?”

“Okay.  I just think they look funny with that hat.”

What do men know?

“Just snap the pictures before everyone can see my fake smiling through these photos.”

“Ok.”

click, click, click

I saunter over to double check the shots and make sure my arms don’t look too fat and all the angles are the most flattering.

“Oh my gosh!!!  Is that me?”

And I start peeling my lumberjack layers off as fast as you could say the word, F.A.S.H.I.O.N.

Because he was right.  Oh so right.
